Silver Threads is a local group open to anyone over the age of 55. It is a friendly and sociable club, that meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month.
Each meet-up is held at 2:30pm in the Memorial Hall, and after a short welcome they normally have a talk, followed by tea and biscuits and an informal chat. Often these meetings are organised to mark a national event, such as the Jubilee, a Royal Wedding or the Olympics.
Christmas is celebrated with a short service in the Methodist Chapel followed by light refreshments.
They also organise a Winter and Summer coach trip to various locations. Previous days out have included trips to the Cotswolds and the New Forest.
Recently the Silver Threads choir was formed, which even counts some ninety-year-olds amongst its members! Strong of voice, they perform regularly around the village.
