Aldbourne Community Plan

The Aldbourne Community Plan 2011 is a ‘community led plan’ for Aldbourne.

Community First (who helped fund the Plan) describe such a plan as follows on their website:

A community led plan such as a Parish Plan lays out a shared vision for a community over about five years and contain a detailed action plan.

It is a document produced by the community for the community and covers all issues of concern to local people including social, economic and environmental issues.

A community led plan gives everyone a chance to have a say about the issues affecting the community and suggest actions they would like to see taken in the future.

The plan is based on the results of research and consultation using a variety of consultation methods that involve the whole community.

It identifies issues and concerns, but also those things to protect and enhance that are most valued by the community. The action plan shows the priorities of local people and detailed actions proposed to address these priorities.

The plan, when completed, highlights actions that can be taken by the community in partnership with the parish or town council, it can be used to influence service providers such as the Local Authority, and act as evidence of need when applying for funding.

The Plan started with two launch meetings in the Memorial Hall in October 2008.

There were a number of consultation meetings with groups in the village and a questionnaire was delivered to every household in April 2010 (see page 24 of the Plan document for more details).

A copy of the resulting plan document was delivered to every household in the parish at the end of November 2011 and is also available for download below.

A link to the tables of proposed actions within the document will shortly appear on this web page, with status information to show what progress is being made on them.

Since one aim for the plan is to help local groups justify funding applications for their projects (and there was a lot more data gathered in the survey than could be put into the document), if you have a project in mind that needs support please contact the Parish Clerk, see details below.
