New dates have been announced for Aldbourne Light Entertainment Club’s “Malt House Man” – A centenary celebration of the day George Bernard Shaw came to Aldbourne by Malcolm Shuttleworth.

George Bernard Shaw came to Aldbourne one hundred years ago to see the first performance of ‘The Village Wedding’, a play by Charles McEvoy who lived at the Old Malt House. The malt barn was turned into the “Aldbourne Theatre”, the cast was drawn from villagers and the music was supplied by Aldbourne Band. For the full story see Graham Palmer’s article as it appeared on the Aldbourne Community Website, via the PDF download link below.

Bar opens 7:30pm, performance begins at 8:00pm. Tickets are priced at £5.00 and are available from the Post Office.

Anyone who still has tickets from the postponed play can exchange them for new ones or a full refund at the Post Office (please note you will not be able to use your old tickets on the door as we need to know the number of tickets sold). Any money not claimed from the ticket sales for the postponed play will be handed to Mark Davies’ family for a donation in his memory to their chosen charity.

Location: Old Malt House, South Street
