The Aldbourne Memorial Hall Committee invites you to join their 90th Anniversary celebrations during the weekend of 20, 21st and 22nd July.

The Memorial Hall was opened on 7th July 1922 by Field Marshall Lord Methuen, and the present Lord and Lady Methuen are to be guests of honour at a re-enactment of the opening ceremony on Friday 20th July.

Everyone is cordially invited to join the distinguished guests in front of the Hall & for a social gathering afterwards (Oxford Street will be closed from 7:00pm to 8:45pm during this event).

The Committee are keen for the event to pay tribute to the present and future contribution this facility offers to the community; whilst at the same time acknowledging the spirit of 1922 when the “village paid homage to those who remained behind when the cease fire had sounded [and] made a worthy tribute to the fallen” (North Wilts Herald 1922).

An Exhibition will run on the Saturday and Sunday and the Committee is particularly pleased to welcome local First World War historian Phil Comley. Phil will be bringing a plethora of exhibits, and is very willing to share his in-depth knowledge and research and answer any questions. Additionally, at 2:00pm on Saturday you are invited to a special showcase by Hall users – everything from Zumba to Ballet!

The Aldbourne Archive will provide a display including a short film of the Remembrance Day Service from November 2011 kindly donated by Mr Gordon Starling. If you have any photos or documents that you would like to have added to this digital collection please bring them along on the day or contact Aldbourne Archive via Jo Hutchings, see details below.

The Grand Finale will be Jazz in the Garden from 4:00pm on Sunday, 22nd July with the ever popular Doug Ellis Jazz Band, accompanied by cream teas at nearby Strawberry Hill (by kind permission of Mr and Mrs J Henson). Tickets available from the Post Office.
