Wilton Windmill Heritage Open Day

  • Sunday 9th September 2012 from 12:30pm till 5:00pm

Wilton Windmill is the only working windmill in Wessex producing stone-ground, wholemeal flour. Built in the early 19th century, it dates back to the era of horses, carts and horse drawn barges on the nearby Kennet and Avon Canal.

We will be turning the clock back and featuring machinery from the late 19th and early 20th century. From the mid-20th we will feature historic tractors, courtesy of the Wiltshire Agricultural Preservation Group, and we hope to have the very latest tractors and combines from today’s farms, so long as they can be spared from the land!

We will also feature a range of traditional crafts including thatching and blacksmithing.

All the usual Windmill fun with games for the children, bouncy castle, Punch & Judy, tug of war and Carlos Adriazola performing his fantastic lassoing. Barbecue, bar, pizzas and a refreshment tent.

Guided tours of the windmill will be free!
