5th May is Liberation Day in Holland and marks the end of the occupation of the Netherlands by Nazi Germany during World War II. On 4 May, the Dutch hold "Dodenherdenking," Remembrance of the Dead. In 1985 Aldbourne Band visited Neede, and participated in the Remembrance Service for the 40th anniversary of liberation.

Today is the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands.

In 1986 the Crescendo Band from Neede visited Aldbourne, bringing with them a carved plaque which was accepted on behalf of the Aldbourne Band by Steve Maskell, then Chairman. The plaque has been re-gilded and is presently on display in the Aldbourne Heritage Centre.
