Aldbourne Band gets best ever contest result!

Our village Band has achieved it’s best ever contest result by being awarded the 3rd place in the Grand Shield at Blackpool on 11th May.

The Grand Shield is the top competition in the British Open Spring Festival and Aldbourne have won through from the third tier, the second and then to an award winning position in the top tier in just three years.

They played the fearsomely difficult piece “The Red Priest” with flair and panache to beat 17 Championship level Bands (all above them in the official rankings) from around the country, including their great rivals in the West region Gloucester based Flowers.

This result gives the highest ranked place they have ever achieved in the major national contests.
