Bob Noody - An Eagle Returns to Aldbourne

Update 3 – For a report about Bob’s trip please see this article in the Daily Mail, or for write-ups from a little closer to home see this link or this link. Thanks to Aldbourne Archive for the information.

Update 2 – Unfortunately, Bob is unwell and will not now be visiting Aldbourne today (Monday 26th May). He is now resting quietly with his English hosts, and we all wish him a swift recovery and safe journey on to France then home. It IS possible that Bob and his hosts will make a visit to the village over the course of the next few days, so if you do see him out and about please say ‘hello’!

Update 1 – Just a quick reminder thet Bob Noody will be re-visiting the Blue Boar around 12:30pm on Monday, 26th May to meet people and sign autographs.

During the last week of May Aldbourne will be welcoming back 101st Airborne veteran Bob Noody (Fox Company, 506th PIR) on his first return to the village since 1944.

In 1943 Bob and the rest of 2nd Battalion arrived in Aldbourne where they were billeted in nissen huts on what is now the football pitch.

During his stay he will be visiting Aldbourne, Ramsbury and Littlecote House, plus Upottery Airfield, before he heads to Normandy for the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
