Flood Helpers Needed

Please see the following request from Jim Oliver of Aldbourne’s DIG (Drainage Improvement Group):

The Flood Warden Team are in the process of putting together a Flood Plan, focused on the annual planning and actions needed to minimise damage and disruption caused by high ground water, surface water flows and sewer surcharging in the village of the kind we experienced last winter. As part of this we want to record contact details of anyone willing to:

1) Help in the event of a flood (e.g. filling sandbags provided by Wiltshire Council, clearing blocked storm water drains at the side of the road, helping vulnerable residents move furniture upstairs etc).

2) Lend a pump to someone who needs it (plus details of the pump, such as capacity) – recognising that they may actually need it for their own property.

If you can help with either of these please let us know by emailing/calling me. Telephone numbers and email addresses will be restricted to a relatively small group within Aldbourne and the various agencies (Wiltshire Council, Thames Water etc.) who will receive a copy of the full plan. There will be further information once we have a better understanding of capabilities and resources.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jim
