Goddard’s Lane path closed

Update 2 – For recent news and discussion about the closure of this path please see this thread in the forum, and this reply from Karen Clay (Parish Clerk) in the PC section of the forum.

Update 1 – The affected wall collapsed shortly before 7:00am today, Wednesday 27th February. No injuries were reported. The tenants have, understandably, been forced to find accommodation elsewhere. Structural engineers and other professionals were on site this morning, putting plans into place to prevent further collapse, and discussing longer term remedies.

The following message has been received, via the Parish Council, from Esther Daly at Wiltshire Council, regarding the emergency closure of the path from Goddards Lane to the park. Please note that the closure applies to a short section of the path between the Scout & Guides Hut and the front corner of 4 Goddards Lane (see photo below):

I am writing to let you know that, as of today, Goddards Lane is subject to an emergency closure.

This is because the wall of No 4, Goddards Lane is showing signs of movement and bulging and it is considered to be unsafe for the public to use the path. The closure will continue until further notice.
