Aldbourne Churches Harvest Appeal... A-Ha!

A-Ha! – The Aldbourne Harvest Appeal 2013… help to collect Tonnes of Tins!

When the churches first started “A-Ha!”
Who’d have thought it could shoot up this far?
Of food, a full ton-ne,
Two thousand in money –
The Food Bank think Aldbourne’s a star!

Since 2009, Aldbourne Churches Together have co-ordinated the A-Ha! collection in aid of the Swindon “Food Bank”, and many needy people have been helped as a result.

Last year, we set the village a rather scary target – £2000 and a metric tonne of food! At the Community Service last November we collected £1735 and added a further £400 after the Soup ‘n Pud lunch in February, with Gift Aid still to come. That comfortably covered the cash target, but still left the “tonne of tins” to find – more than three times the previous year’s total…

We collected 365kg at the Community Service, and people have been absolutely brilliant about topping up the baskets that now stand permanently in both churches.

As a result, we hit an estimated 1056Kg by the end of August! That all represents an absolutely fantastic effort by this community, working together to assist those in need and helping the churches to fulfil their mission to show practical care and love of neighbour. A huge “thank you” for your share in this.

Unfortunately, the need continues to grow (see, so over the next year we aim to beat these figures by as big a margin as possible!

Please think about how you could help with the Appeal, and come to the Community Service. Do use Gift Aid if you possibly can – it adds a quarter to the value of your gift, at no cost to you.
