Aldbourne Parish Council

There is a plan for an electricity-generating anaerobic digester plant at Snap Farm, Woodsend, Nr. Aldbourne.

What would be the impact on the Aldbourne community?

The main concern about the application is that a large proportion of the grass and maize needed to fuel the digester could come through Aldbourne using Castle Street or Marlborough Road. The agent for the proposer has stated “there will be a max of 125 movements in one day during a 5 day period each year.” It is not clear if this includes return journeys.

The Parish Council has objected to the application on the grounds of traffic movement and the fact that the narrow roads to the site are unsuitable for this large volume of traffic. The Campaign to Protect Rural England has also strongly objected to the plan.

The application is currently awaiting discussion by Wiltshire Council’s Eastern Area Planning Committee, though a date has not yet been set. You can view the application and comments on and enter Planning Application: 13/01142/WCM
