Pond & Winterbourne help needed

On Saturday 26th October the Aldbourne Community Volunteers will be teaming up with members of Aldbourne’s Drainage Improvement Group, plus any other helpers, to clear both the pond and sections of the winterbourne.

For details please see the messages below from Katie Thorp (ACV) and Jim Oliver (DIG). Their contact details are also shown. Please lend a hand if you can!

The Pond

The village litter pick, aka the Big Tidy, is planned for this Saturday. On the following Saturday, 26th October, we have been asked to help clear the pond of reeds. It’s a lovely mucky job so bring your wellies, waders if you have them, and cutting gear! So if you want to take the week’s frustrations out on some reeds please come along. Again we will start at 10:30am. I will be there earlier as my plan is to drain the pond a little before we start to make it easier to move round in it.

The Bourne

Volunteers for Bourne Clear-up – More help needed please!

On Saturday 26th October the Bourne needs some help. Around this time of year the Bourne requires a little help from us to ensure the flow is good when (if) the springs rise and start to fill it. That means clearing it of weeds and general rubbish. If you are able to spare an hour or two from 10:00am that would be much appreciated. Please drop me an email and we’ll give out more details of the plan.
