Summer Reading Challenge - Volunteers needed!

Aldbourne Library is looking for volunteers to listen to children talk about the books they have read and to encourage further reading, as part of the successful fun summer reading challenge for 4 to 11 year olds at Aldbourne Library.

To do this rewarding and fun job which lasts for seven weeks over the school summer holiday (11th July to 5th September), you need to be at least 14 years old (parent/guardian permission needed if you are under 18) and be prepared to commit to a minimum of 16 hours over the seven weeks of the challenge. We would be looking for three hours on Monday and Thursday afternoons, and two hours Monday and Thursday evenings, and two hours on Tuesday mornings. The more volunteers we get, the lower the commitment may be.

The theme this year is “Record Breakers”. Aldbourne (and Baydon, Ogbourne etc) children have always enthusiastically enjoyed this challenge to read six books and come and talk about them, and we always have a great deal of fun, so do please either ring 01672 540632 or pop into the library to talk about whether you would be interested in this rewarding volunteering opportunity.

Please let’s start the “Record Breakers” by having a record number of volunteers!
