Wild Flower Project - the second year!

Please see below for an update from Alison Edmonds on the village’s Wild Flower Project:

During the last few months a new stretch of ground by the Bourne has been prepared, this extends the wild flower area created in early Spring 2012.

The last planting session was in October 2013 when cowslips were put in. If the weather is kind, the next planting session will be on Saturday 22nd March at 11:00am (watch out for posters and notices on confirming the date).

Again a variety of chalk loving plants will be available. Once they are established and come into flower, we look forward to seeing the bees and butterflies back enjoying the nectar.

I hope to extend this wild flower project to patches around the trees which were planted by the Village Green Group at the end of last year.

Also I wish to thank Jo Hutchings for all her support with this project and for the wonderful photo record on the Aldbourne Village Gallery.

This project is privately funded and is supported by the Parish Council. More details can be found here.

As mentioned, photos of the previous planting sessions are available for viewing on the Aldbourne Village Gallery, via this link.

For more information about the project please contact Alison Edmonds, see details below.
