Friends of St. Michael's Church - Tower Tours

The tower tours at St. Michael’s Church on Sunday 18th July were well supported – and the tea and cakes much appreciated!

Many thanks to Leys Geddes for sending a link to this video showing the panoramic view from the top of the tower – click here to view.

The Friends of St. Michael’s Church is a charity established to assist in the maintenance of this beautiful building. From the earliest times the church has played a significant role in the lives of the villagers of Aldbourne, not only for worship but for a “community centre” where people gathered to exchange news and to support one another. Today, while the primary function of Christian worship and celebration continues, the church building is well used for other community activities and celebrations.

One of the objectives of the Friends is that the church should remain an integral and active centre of the village with the intention to make the church more accessible to everyone, featuring as much in community life it does physically in the centre of the village.

In the hope that a great many will wish to become a Friend, it was decided to keep the annual minimum subscription to a sum that all could afford, namely £5, or £8 per couple, although it is hoped that most will feel able to give more.
