The original village website for Aldbourne in Wiltshire, UK

It’s

Out with the old, in with the new!

The beginning of 2011 marks a significant moment in the history of your village website. The original Aldbourne website was one of England’s first such projects when it was set up in 1999. Known as the “Aldbourne Community Website”, it has served the villagers and many others for over a decade, winning plaudits, and awards, along the way. The new year marks the next chapter, as the original site has now been closed, and this site, The Aldbourne Net, replaces it. The ethos remains the same however: “For the community, by the community”.

Since April 2010 the Aldbourne Website Group have been maintaining both websites, a not inconsiderable workload. It is now an appropriate time to focus fully on the completion of this site, taking the best of the old and adding a raft of new features and enhanced functionality. More details about these changes can be found here and here.

Much work remains, not least the import of existing content on the old site and the transfer of the Aldbourne Community Forum. In the meantime here is a temporary link back to the old site, for reference purposes, and for those who wish to visit the forum, you can do so using the main menu on the left or via this link.

We would like to thank you again for your continued support, and we look forward to revealing new parts of the site to you over the coming months.
