Ride + Stride Event 2012 news
Please see the following message from Claire Ashley regarding the Ride + Stride event which is being held on Saturday 8th September. Funds raised are spent on maintaining the essential repair of churches in Wiltshire – 50% will go to St. Michael’s Church here in the village:
Dear fellow cyclists, walkers and horse riders,
This year I will be taking part in the “Ride + Stride Event”, organised by the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust.
The aim of the day is to be sponsored (either for an amount per church visited or a total sum) to visit as many churches in Wiltshire as possible, by foot, bicycle or horse.
I am hoping there are lots of other keen cyclists/walkers who would like to join in? I have a long list of churches that will be open (some offering refreshments) throughout Wiltshire, so if you fancy exploring a different corner of the county I can help you plan a route, or perhaps make a circular route closer to home.
There are prizes available – the 1st prize being £500 (awarded to the best all-round parish, calculated by the number of participants x amount raised). Also runner up prizes, £100 and £50, and Junior Cup for the most successful group of under 18 year olds. Finally, there are cash prizes for best achieving cyclists and walkers from different age groups. So, if the draw of the countryside and historic buildings is not enough, there are prizes too!
Please consider taking part as it is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the Wiltshire countryside, appreciate our amazing historic churches and take some exercise with friends and catch up after the summer holidays. BUT, if you really think you’re not up to it, please sponsor me to visit as many as I can manage…
