What is the Aldbourne Net?
The Aldbourne Net is the most recent incarnation of the original Aldbourne village website. For more details about the site’s history please visit the Past, Present & Future pages on this website. For news about current work on this site please see the Website Update section on the home page.
Who runs the Aldbourne Net?
This site is run and maintained by the Aldbourne Website Group. For detailed information about who we are and what we do please visit our own website.
What browsers does this site support?
This site should display correctly in all popular browsers including Internet Explorer 7 and above, Firefox, Safari and Chrome. However we do recommend that you update your chosen browser to the latest version. For further guidance about available browsers click here.
What advertising services do we offer?
We offer both a standard and a premium service. A standard listing is free, and consists solely of the business name and a contact telephone number. A premium listing, for a small annual fee, consists of a detailed description of your business, with logos and related images and comprehensive contact information. Your business logo will then appear, in thumbnail form, as an advert in the Notice Board column on the front page, in rotation with other businesses using the service. Clicking on this thumbnail will lead any visitor to the site back to your detailed business information.
What is the charge for a premium listing?
The charge for a premium listing is £30 per year, with the annual cycle beginning in December. Businesses applying after this date will be charged pro rata (i.e. each month is charged at £2.50, so if you apply in January the charge will be 11 x £2.50 = £27.50), with the option for renewal at the full £30 the following December.
Can anyone advertise on this website?
The business listings are intended to provide a comprehensive guide to businesses that are based locally or have strong links to the area. Businesses that do not strictly fulfil these criteria may still apply for listing, though the Aldbourne Website Group reserve the right to give priority to businesses that meet the criteria more fully.
What is the advertising revenue used for?
The money raised through the premium business listings help cover the costs of running the website. Primarily these consist of the fees for hosting the website and registration of the domain names. Please note that the Aldbourne Website Group is a Not for Profit organisation run by unpaid volunteers. The advertising revenue therefore helps secure the future of the village website.
